The Institue for economic and technological management (IWT) at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University e. V. was founded in 1999.

Its main idea is,

• to initiate and amplify knowledge and technology transfer between University and small and mid-sized enterprises (SME) in order to increase competitiveness and to ensure jobs,
• to initiate and coordinate further education,
• to apply scientific expertise for start-ups and to support students and graduates in finding a job
